Clay Northam’s Founding Principals, Brian Clay and Darren Northam, each hold the Chartered Mutual Fund Counselor and Certified Financial Planner designations. The CFP® designation is considered by many to be the highest certification in the industry. To be recognized as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, individuals must meet rigorous experience and ethical requirements, complete financial planning coursework, and pass a certification examination covering the financial planning process, risk management, investments, tax planning and management, retirement and employee benefits, and estate planning. They must also meet ongoing continuing education requirements and uphold the CFP Board Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility.

This distinct, well-rounded knowledge base provides Brian and Darren the ability to address clients’ financial goals innovatively in all types of economic conditions. In fact, each partner has received numerous honors including being named to the Consumer Research Council of America’s “Best Financial Planner” list based on experience, training, professional associations, and financial certifications.

Brian is an independent wealth advisor with 23 years of industry experience. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Brian enjoys traveling, sports, and spending time with family and friends. He resides in Sherman Oaks, California with his wife Sarah and daughter Lily.

Darren Northam, CFP®, CMFC®
Founding Principal

Darren is an independent wealth advisor with 27 years of industry experience. He holds a Bachelors degree in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He enjoys spending time with his family and friends. His interests also include sports and volunteering at Hemopet, a non-profit greyhound rescue. Darren resides in Huntington Beach, California with his wife Jolene, son Dean and daughter Audrey.
